CASA In-Service: Our Children’s Health – Part I

The next CASA inservice will be held on Thursday, June 9th, 2016 from 5:30pm – 7:00pm at the CASA office. To ensure our children are receiving quality comprehensive healthcare and to become aware of the resources available to us for the families we serve, Ms. Leticia Puente, the Texas Health Steps Representative for Cameron and Willacy counties, will be here to speak to us and answer questions.

Children in DFPS conservatorship, including children in foster care and kinship care, must get Texas Health Steps medical and dental checkups. The Texas Health Steps program, known in federal law as the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) program is Medicaid’s preventative healthcare program for children, teens, and adults age 20 and younger. Texas Health Steps checkups are designed to find and treat medical and dental problems.
